A Necessary Addition to Mechanical Root Cutting
Although professional mechanical root cutting will clear pipeline blockages, roots that haven’t been killed can begin to grow back and clog your pipe again in as little as 9 months! With a RootX® treatment, you can ensure that all roots within your piping will be killed and any chance of new roots growing are significantly reduced.
How RootX® Works
RootX® is a patented formula made up of two components that foam on contact with water, reaching the top of pipes where 90 percent of root growth occurs. RootX® sticks to the pipe walls preventing re-growth of roots for up to 12 months and giving you peace of mind.
Kill Pipeline Roots – Get Pipes Flowing
The patented RootX® formula foams on contact with water to reach the top of the pipe where 90% of the roots are. Degreasing agents strip away grime so the RootX® herbicide can penetrate cut roots, killing them on contact. RootX® sticks to the pipe walls, preventing re-growth for up to 12 months. Dead roots in pipe decay over time, restoring pipes to their full capacity.
Tough on Roots – Easy on Pipes
RootX® kills roots using the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil. It is non-caustic, non-fumigating and non-systemic and does not contain diquat dibromide, copper sulfate or metam sodium. RootX® will not harm pipes, septic systems or above-ground vegetation.
Safe, Effective RootX®
RootX® is registered in Canada (PCP Act Reg. #26435) and with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA, #68464-1). It is classified as a “Domestic Use” Product and carries the single word CAUTION, the lowest chemical hazard rating according to the ISO 3864-2 standard for hazard severity panels.

History
RootX® was first introduced and patented as a root control formula in 1994. RootX® was engineered to limit the exposure issues and environmental impacts that other root control formulas were producing, and to remove pipeline roots without affecting the treatment systems at the wastewater treatment plant downstream. RootX® was also engineered for fast, simple and cost-effective applications that don’t require extensive training or expensive add-on equipment.
Since 1994, RootX® has been a simple, effective and proven solution for pipeline root control for municipalities, plumbers and homeowners.
