- Remove the lid on the jar of RootX® and attach the reusable funnel with the lid tightly on.
- Gently rock/shake the product back and forth between the jar and the funnel for about 2 minutes to mix the two chemicals together very well.

Methods of application
CAUTION: Only the 2lb RootX® can be flushed. The 4lb will create too much foam and may overflow the toilet. For complete instructions, please see “Downloads” under “Information” or Click Here.
For sewer lines up to 50′ : Mix the 2 parts of product inside the jar as per instructions. Flush the contents of the 2lb jar of RootX® down your basement or first floor toilet and immediately pour a 5 gallon bucket of water in to create foam and push the product down the line. OR, pour the RootX® into your clean-out and follow it with 10 gallons of water.
NOTE: Do not use any water in home for 4-6 hours to allow RootX® to work and then dry on the interior of your sewer line which is what prevents the regrowth of roots.
For sewer lines up to 100′ : A 4lb RootX® is required. Mix together the 2 parts of product together well as per instructions and pour the 4lb jar of RootX® into the clean-out. Immediately follow it with 20 gallons of water to create foam and push the product down the line.
NOTE: Do not use any water in home for 4-6 hours to allow RootX® to work and then dry on the interior of your sewer line which is what prevents the regrowth of roots.
For septic tanks: Follow instructions as above to premix. If roots are in the tank, pump down the liquids in the tank to expose the roots and remove or break up as many as possible. Spray the roots with a little water to clean them. Pour RootX® in and spray with about 20 gallons of water to activate it. NOTE: Do not use any water in the home for 4-6 hours to allow RootX® time to work. For more detailed instructions, please click here.
For septic drain fields: Premix as above. Apply the 4lb RootX® using the distribution box and add 20 gallons of water. NOTE: Do NOT apply RootX® to the septic tank to treat the drainfield. For more detailed instructions, please click here.
IMPORTANT: If roots are causing a complete or even a partial blockage, they MUST be professionally removed first.
When Should I Apply RootX®?
You can apply RootX® anytime of the year, even during winter if necessary, but the best time is in the early summer.
RootX® can only be applied within one hour of cutting roots OR preferably 6 – 8 weeks after the professional removal of roots.
After mechanical cutting, the tree produces an acid to protect its cut root ends, not allowing anything to further harm it. After about 6 weeks the acid dissipates and the roots start re-growing at an even faster rate. This is actually the ideal time to apply the RootX® as the tree roots are actively searching for water and nutrients and will absorb the RootX® product.
Please do not attempt to remove roots yourself with rental equipment. Lack of knowledge for proper procedure with low grade equipment is frequently ineffective and can be extremely unsafe. Additionally, roots must be removed by a professional to be covered by the RootX® warranty.
What is the Shelf Life of RootX®
The shelf life of RootX® is approximately 2 years when stored under ideal conditions indoors. It cannot be exposed to extreme cold, heat or humidity.
If the product does become hard, simply break it up and then follow directions as indicated on the jar. It does not alter the effectiveness.
